TimeGauge is a menu bar app that renders the passage of time as animated progress bars for the current day, month, year, and any custom deadlines. ($5.99, one-time)

The core display shows three persistent progress indicators: how much of today has elapsed, the current position within the month, and year-to-date progress. These update in real time and give an ambient sense of temporal context without requiring the user to open a calendar or clock app.

Beyond the three standard timers, TimeGauge supports fully custom deadlines and countdowns—useful for tracking sprint durations, upcoming travel, exam dates, or project milestones. Each timer can be individually toggled for visibility and reordered to match priority. The app also includes a lifespan calculator that derives a personal life-progress bar from the user’s birthdate, a feature intended to provide long-term perspective alongside the daily and monthly indicators.

TimeGauge is implemented in native Swift and is designed to minimize system impact. All data remains local; the app requires no account and performs no external communication. Launch at login is supported through the settings panel.

System requirements: macOS (minimum version not specified by developer). Native Swift implementation. Negligible RAM and battery impact.

Pricing: ($5.99, one-time; regular price $9.99)

Limitations: No minimum macOS version is documented, which may complicate compatibility decisions. No iOS companion app or iCloud sync. Hero screenshot unavailable from the developer’s marketing materials. No free trial available.

Alternatives: Day Progress (free, single day-progress bar in the menu bar). Timing and Toggl Track offer project-level time tracking. The built-in macOS Clock menu bar item provides basic time display without progress visualization.

Suitable for users who benefit from ambient time awareness—developers tracking sprints, students managing exam schedules, or anyone who wants a constant visual reminder of how the day, month, and year are progressing.
